Day June 24th: Inti Raymi – Sun Festival 2026

Breakfast at your hotel in the City of Cusco.

On June 24th, the festival in honor of the Sun God takes place in the three historical and natural settings usually used for the staging: Qoricancha Temple, Plaza de Armas, and Sacsayhuamán.

Qoricancha (Public Stage)

7:40 a.m. The Travel Agency will pick you up from your hotel with its transport and your guide to head to the first station of the staging, which will be at Qoricancha (Golden Fence).

08:00 a.m. We will meet at the Qoricancha where we will settle in to appreciate the appearance of the Inca with his retinue.

09:00 a.m. or 09:30 a.m. Looking up slightly, we can see the Inca making an invocation to the sun god.

Plaza de Armas (Public Stage)

10:00 a.m. We will walk up to the Plaza de Armas where we will settle in one of the corners to appreciate the passing of the Inca procession. Then we will take our mobility at Regocijo Square to head to Sacsayhuamán (approx. 20 min).

Saqsayhuamán – Inti Raymi (Private Stage)

12:00 p.m. Sacsayhuamán (voice derived from Quechua terms "saqsay" and "waman," which translated into English means "satiate hawk"): This impressive archaeological center is at 3,555 m.a.s.l., one kilometer from the Inca neighborhood "Qolqanpata."

13:00 hrs. We will have our box lunch and the ceremony will begin. We will settle in the VIP grandstand of the stage to have the best view of the show. This is the only stage where we will be comfortable appreciating this magnificent staging of Inti Raymi.

15:30 hrs approx. End of the staging. We will meet and head towards the mobility and we will drop you off at your respective hotels. (This day there will be heavy traffic; some people whose hotels are near the square choose to walk down to the Plaza de Armas, approx. 15 min walk down).

Yes, all our packages that include the day of Inti Raymi feature entry to the VIP grandstand (orange or green) at Sacsayhuamán, ensuring the best view and comfort during the main ceremony.
We recommend resting for the first few hours upon arrival, drinking plenty of coca tea, staying hydrated, and avoiding heavy meals. Our tours are designed for progressive acclimatization. If the package includes Rainbow Mountain, it is best to do it at the end.
Yes, most of our packages include a guided visit to Machu Picchu. Transportation is provided by bus from Cusco/Ollantaytambo to the train station, followed by a train journey (Expedition, Vistadome, or Voyager) to Aguas Calientes, and finally the bus up to the citadel.
It is mandatory to carry your original passport or the physical ID (DNI) that you used for the reservation. Without the original document, entry to Machu Picchu and boarding of trains is not permitted.
It is a demanding hike due to the altitude (5,000 meters above sea level). It is recommended to be in good physical condition and to have spent at least 2 days in Cusco to acclimatize. There is the option to rent calles in the area to facilitate the ascent.
It is recommended to book at least 3 to 5 months in advance. Tickets for Inti Raymi and Machu Picchu, as well as space in hotels and trains, sell out quickly for June dates.
